DUCK DOWN
Feather products such as feather coats and duvets have been known by consumers for their high heat retention, good breathability, dryness, lightness, softness, durability and become the best winter textile products for consumers.
1. FILL POWER
Elasticity is an important indicator for measuring the warmth of feathers. It refers to the mass of cubic inches per ounce (30 grams) at a temperature of 40*C under certain conditions. The higher the elasticity of duck feathers, the better the warmth of the feather product will be.
Physicochemical tests were carried out on goose and duck feathers with a fluff content of about 90%, feathers remaining 10% in different regions and origins, the results showed that the elasticity of goose feathers is slightly greater and the elasticity of duck feathers but the performance of keeping warm is similar.
Factors affecting the elasticity of duck feathers are due to the size of the fluffy, the oxygen consumption index of the fluff.
Therefore, under the same standard conditions, the elasticity of duck feathers is slightly lower than goose feathers, so the warmth of duck feather products will also be lower than goose feather products.

2. THE SMELL OF FEATHERS
The Duck is an omnivore, although raw food such as insects, earthworms, shrimp and fish …
or processed foods such as synthetic bran.
Because it is a fatty food, duck meat has a lot of fat, generally has a fishy smell, . When they eat food containing a lot of fat, the duck itself secretes the sweat glands of the body. Folk call it “fatty fishy” or “duck body odor”.
Food for geese is mainly plants, geese can eat weeds and aquatic plants. So, goose meat has less oil content and almost no particular smell.
Smell is always the focal point when comparing a goose and a duck, but some argue that “duck feathers smell worse than goose feathers” is wrong.
Yao Xiaoman, secretary general of the China Feather Industry Association, believes: “The production and processing process of goose and duck meat is the same. Standard geese and ducks are tasteless and harmless, while duck feathers with a distinctive smell are substandard. “
